Sometimes mis-spelled as Bitterlick Born July 16, 1829, died July 12, 1880 Bitterlick figured in the Daily union and American news paper of December 10, 1865 and in the Pulaski Citizen, Pulaski Tennessee of January 19, 1866 Bitterlich guns were marked in two lines FR. J. BITTERLICH NASCHVILLE; TENN: on the barrel and on the lock .41 caliber percussion, single shot pistol Philadelphia Style Percussion deringer right side .44 caliber percussion, single shot pistol, 3 1/4" octagon barrel right side There are rumors that he made revolvers marked Schneider & Glassick. Known is a Southern Half Stock Rifle in .41 caliber marked on the barrel FR. J. BITTERLICH & CO, NASHVILLE, TENN Apparently made prior to 1862 when his shop was destroyed by fire. He was using a Kirkman & Ellis lock. This was a wholesale and retail hardware company which sold arms too. That company was disolved in 1857. |
